My Story
I am a recovering good girl. Being a good girl is not
necessarily a bad thing, but for me, it became toxic.
You see, I came from a good home, went to a good
college, graduated from a good seminary, married
a good Christian man and had good kids.
I worked hard at being good. I tried to keep a good
home, do good at church, be a good wife, good
daughter, good friend and good mother. However, being good got harder and
harder. I kept trying to be good at all those things but somehow it just wasn’t
working.
One day in the desert of my life God showed me I was dying from the inside out. In
my efforts to be “good” (to be what others wanted or what I thought I should be), I
was stifling the very life God had created in me and intended me to live.
So, with God, I began a journey of reclaiming me. I’m still on the journey, but I’m
living in a God-honoring freedom, letting His light shine through the unique way
He’s made me. My hope is to take this life-giving message of freedom to others
who may be in need of some "recovery."
